Farali Batata Vada
 
 
Farali Batata Vada is a Gujarati recipe. Farali Batata Vada is made during fasts. Farali Batata Vada can be eaten with curd, coriander chutney or even tomato sauce. Farali Batata Vada tastes really good and my kid’s favorite.

Ingredients
Filling
  • 2-3 cup Boiled & Mashed Potatoes
  • 1 tsp Ginger Paste
  • 1 tsp Green Chili Paste
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • ½ Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp. Coriander Leaves
  • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 3-4 Curry Leaves
  • Oil
Batter
  • 1 cup Rajgira Flour/Amaranth Flour
  • ½ cup Singhara Flour/Water Chestnut Flour
  • ¼ cup Sabudana Flour
  • ¼ cup Sama/Moriya Flour
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • Oil for Frying
Instructions
Batter
  1. Combine all batter ingredients in a bowl and make smooth batter using required water, like pakoda batter consistency and keep aside.
Filling
  1. Heat ½ tbsp. oil in a pan, when oil heat, add cumin seeds, when seeds crackle then add curry leaves.
  2. Add ginger paste, Green chili paste and sauté for minutes.
  3. Now add boiled & mashed potatoes, turmeric powder, salt, and mix well.
  4. Turn off the flame, then add lemon juice, coriander leaves and mix well.
  5. Now make small-small balls from mixture and keep aside.
Process
  1. Heat the oil in the pan for deep frying.
  2. Add stuffing balls to batter and cover all sides of it, then put it in oil and fry till light golden brown color.
  3. Take them out on paper towel to drain out access oil.
  4. Farali batata vadas are ready.
  5. Serve hot with farali green chutney.
Notes
1. You can use sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes.
2. Add spice as per your taste.
3. You can use appe pan to fry this vada using less oil instead of deep frying.
