Roasted BBQ Chickpeas

Roasted BBQ Chickpeas is a crunchy and delicious addicting snack. These Roasted BBQ Chickpeas are crunchy, slightly spicy and totally addictive! Perfect for vegan and gluten free options. A great for a healthy, high-protein snack or to add some crunch to salads or wraps or taco or dips.

The reason I love making roasted chickpeas is because they’re a salty, crunchy, healthy snack alternative to chips that you can make ahead and keep on hand for a week or more without losing any quality in the taste or texture. Perfect for school lunches or afternoon snacks for hungry toddlers.

The secret to getting chickpeas crispy is to dry them really really well. Use a paper towel or dried cloth for patting and if time allows you can even let them air dry a bit. The end goal is a golden-brown crunch outside with a soft and tender middle. The BBQ seasoning, I used is homemade using spices you probably already have on hand. It gives the chickpeas a slightly sweet and smoky flavor, and what makes them oh!! so addicting.

Ingredients:

• 1 can (15 oz) Chickpeas Beans
• 1-2 tbs olive Oil or Vegetable Oil
• Salt
• ½ tsp Smoked Paprika
• ½ tsp Red Chili Powder
• ½ tsp Cumin Powder
• ¼ tsp Onion Powder
• ¼ tsp Garlic Powder
• 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
• ¼ tsp Black Pepper

Method:

1. Preheat the oven on 400f/200c.
2. Take a bowl. Add smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin powder, onion powder, garlic powder, sugar, black powder and ¼ tsp salt, mix well and keep aside.
3. Rinse and drain the chickpeas and then spread on kitchen paper towel and pat dry it completely. Then add into the bowl, add oil, salt and toss it till mix and coat the beans well.
4. Now take a big baking sheet line with parchment paper. Spread the chickpeas and bake it for 40-45 mins till golden brown. Stir it 2-3 time with spoon while baking.
5. Remove the beans baking sheet from the oven, and prepared spices mixture and mix it well till coat each chickpeas bean. Let it cool down for 2-3 mins.
6. Roasted BBQ Chickpeas is ready to munch. Use it as a topping on salad, taco, pizza etc…

Tips:

• You can use homemade soaked and boiled chickpeas instead of caned.
• Dry the chickpeas on paper towel well otherwise moister can spoil the crunch of chickpeas.
• Keep eye on while baking otherwise you will end up with brunt chickpeas.

Store it in airtight container outside, no need to store in fridge.
