Masale Bhat is a Maharastrian authentic rice dish. Masale Bhat is popular menu of Maharastrian marriage. Masale Bhat is an amazing combination of spicy flavours and mouth-watering textures, when served with curds, or raita, it makes a complete meal.
Ingredients:
• 2 cup Rice
• 1 chopped Onion
• 1 small Carrot Chopped
• 1 cup Green Peas
• 1 Potato Peeled and Cubed
• ½ cup Sliced Tindli
• 1 tsp Garam Masala
• 1 tsp Garlic Paste
• 1-2 Dry Whole Red Chili
• Mustard Seeds
• Cumin seeds
• Pinch of Asafoetida/Hing
• 1-2 Bay Leaves
• 1-2 Cloves
• 2-3 Whole Black Pepper
• Turmeric
• Red Chili Powder
• Salt
• Oil
• Cashew Nuts
Method:
1. Wash rice and soak for 30 minutes.
2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in deep pan; add mustard seed, cumin seed, pinch of asafoetida, then add bay leaves, cloves, whole black pepper, whole dry red chili and stir well.
3. Then add cashew nuts, garlic paste, onion and fry till golden brown.
4. Now add carrot, green peas, sliced tindli, potato and sauté for 1 minute. Add garam masala, turmeric, red chili powder, salt, some water and then cover the lid for 5 minutes on low medium flame.
5. Now add soaked rice, mix well and add water if required.
6. First few minutes (4-5 minutes) cook rice on high flame then cook on low flame.
7. Garnish Masale Bhat with chopped coriander and Serve hot.
