Bharwan Mirch

Bharwan Mirch recipe is originally from Rajasthani cuisine. Bharwan Mirch is stuffed with chickpeas flour and spices. In Hindi Bharwan means stuffed and Mirch means Chili, in this dish Chilies are slit and stuffed with spicy chickpeas masala. This Bharwan Mirch or Stuffed Chilies is very delicious side dish that can be served with steamed rice or parathas. This is a simple stuffing and you can make them quick and easily.

Ingredients:

• 7-8 Large Green Chili/Bhavnagri Chili
• ½ cup Besan/Chickpeas Flour/Gram Flour
• 1tbsp Roasted and Crushed Peanuts
• 2 tsp Sesame Seeds
• 1-2 tsp Red Chili Powder
• 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
• 1 tsp Cumin Powder
• 1 tsp Coriander Seeds Powder
• ½ tsp Dry Mango Powder
• 1 tbsp Coconuts Powder (opt.)
• 1-2 tsp Sugar (opt)
• Pinch of Asafoetida/Hing
• Salt
• 2 tbsp Oil (1 tbsp for mixture + 1 tbsp for frying)

Method:

1. Take a mixing bowl, add all ingredients except green chili and oil, and mix well.

2. Add 1 tbsp oil, mix it with your hand, and make crumbly mixture, keep aside.

3. Wash, clean and wipe the green chilies, and then make a slit along the length of the chili with the help of knife. Make sure do not slit all the way to the bottom or cut through the other side of the chili.

4. Now stuff the mixture into the chilies with your fingers.

5. Now place all the stuffed chilies into the kadhai or pan, add 1tbsp oil all over the chilies, and then cover the kadhai with a lid for 10-15 minutes on low flame, while cooking check and turn chilies 2-3 time, till all the sides cook well.

Your Bharwan Mirch is ready to serve with roti, dal-rice along with lemon wedge.
