Instant Rava Idli

Instant Rava Idli is a very popular South Indian breakfast dish. Instant Rava Idli is very simple to prepare at home. Instant Rava Idli is no need grinding or fermenting and yes without Eno, but still totally instant, this simple Instant Rava Idli is a soft, fluffy and taste delicious perfect for breakfast with Coriander Mint Chutney. Well, you are crazy or big fan of Idli like me, but what if you have no batter on hand? then this is the quick and equally tasty version of instant Idli made with Rava/Semolina. So what you thinking? Don’t think more and try this Instant Rava Idli with step by step instructions.

Instant Rava Idli

Ingredients:

• 2 cup Suji/Rava/Semolina
• 1 cup Curd/Yogurt/Dahi
• 1-2 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
• 1 tsp Green Chili Paste
• 2 tsp Chana Dal/Split Gram
• 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
• 5-6 Curry Leaves
• Salt
• 1-2 tsp Oil
• Pinch of Asafoetida/Hing
• 5-6 Broken Cashew Nuts
• ¼ tsp Baking Soda

Method:

1. Take a large bowl, add Rava/Semolina, yogurt and salt.

2. Add ginger-garlic paste and mix will using water as required, make thick but pouring consistency batter.

3. Now take a small pan. Add oil, when oil heats enough, add mustard seeds, chana dal, curry leaves, pinch of asafetida and sauté for few minutes.

4. Pour the tampering over the Rava batter and mix well.

5. In same pan roast the broken cashew nuts, and then add in Rava batter, mix well gently.

6. Take a small bowl, add 1-2 tbsp lukewarm water, baking soda and mix well. Add this mixture into the Rava batter and mix well, now our Rava Idli batter is ready to make Idli.

7. Now take an Idli maker or steamer, add water and bring it to boil.

8. Take the Idli mold and grease it with few drops of oil.

9. Pour the batter in the Idli mold, place it in the steamer and steam it for 6-7 minutes.

10. Remove the molds from the steamer, let it be cool down, then remove the Idli from mold using blunt knife.

11. Instant Rava Idli is ready to serve with Coriander Mint Chutney.

Tips:

• You can even add veggies in Rava batter like carrot or green peas.
