Mango Mastani

Mango Mastani

Mango Mastani

Mango Mastani or Mango Milkshake, Pune’s very own creation. Mastani is a thick mango milkshake with chopped fruit, almonds, and ice cream or whipped sweet cream on top. This name comes from the mythology of Bajirao, the legendary Peshwa monarch, and his beautiful love, Mastani.
Mango Mastani

According to the proprietor of an age-old Mastani joint called Gujjar Cold Drink, when this drink was first presented to people, they would appreciatively comment “Mast,” hence the name “Mastani.” Punekars are also highly proud of their cultural past, which is why this delectable, well-known dish is named after the vivacious, gorgeous courtesan who stole the powerful Bajirao’s heart.
When mangoes are in season this summer, this is a must-try! Try this incredibly simple and delicious Mango Mastani and let me know how it goes.
