Masala Chai Pear Scones

Masala Chai Pear Scones, perfect combination of chai spices and pears. Masala Chai Pear Scones are easy quick sweet. Masala Chai Pear Scones is so aromatic and tasteful. Masala Chai Pear Scones perfect with hot cup of tea or just serve with sweet whipped cream. It just takes less than an hour preparation to end, and taste is so good. These scones has small-small cubes of fruit, yet soft and tender, with crisp edges, crackly tops, and just subtly sweet.

Masala Chai is one of the key ingredient of Masala Chai Pear Scones recipe. If you are an Indian you must know the importance of Masala Chai 😉 Usually Masala Chai loaded with ginger and some spices like cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg. It tastes so aromatic. Even I can’t imagine my morning without a cup of Masala Chai. The Masala Chai aroma is enough to make your mind fresh every morning.

Actually, last weekend I bought pears as usual for my kids but this time they did not finish and it was just laying into my freeze. So this morning while drinking a tea, I was thinking about pears and suddenly an idea popped-up to make Pear Scones. Although coffee is an obvious choice to pair with scones, I turned it down to Masala Chai and here is the amazing result.

Masala Chai Pear Scones

Ingredients:

• 2 cup All-purpose Flour/Maida
• ½ cup Sugar
• 1 Regular Sized Black Tea Bag or 1 tsp Black Tea Powder
• 2 tsp Baking Powder
• ½ tsp Salt
• 1 tsp Cinnamon Powder
• 1 tsp Nutmeg Powder
• 1 tsp Dry Ginger Powder
• ½ tsp Cardamom Powder
• ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder
• ¼ tsp Cloves Powder
• 1 Stick/4oz Butter
• ½ cup Yogurt/Curd/Dahi
• 1 cup Chopped Ripen Pears
• 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Method:

1. Preheat the oven on 400F/200C.
2. In mixing bowl add flour, salt and baking powder, and mix it well.
3. Now take black tea powder, crush it between your hand palms and add into the flour mixture.
4. Add remaining dry spices ingredients, mix it again and keep aside.
5. Take a butter stick, cut into small-small cubes, then add them into the prepared mixture.
6. Now mix it well using your hands and make crumbly mixture. Add chopped pear, yogurt and vanilla extract and then fold it using spatula. Add 1-2 tbsp water and make dough.
7. Dust the flour on working place or kitchen counter. Remove the prepared dough on it.
8. Sprinkle some flour over it and then gently pat the dough using your hand and make thick round about 1 inch thick.
9. Take a sharp knife or scraper and cut it into tringles or squares or as per your choice.
10. Take a baking sheet and line with parchment paper or brush the sheet with oil, place the prepared tringles over it. Brush the top with butter milk.
11. Now time to bake, place the baking tray into the preheated oven and bake it around 25-30 minutes till golden brown.
12. Remove it from the oven and let it cool down. Masala Chai Pear Scones are ready to serve. You can serve it fresh with a cup of tea or with cool whip and enjoy.

Tips:

• Always add chilled butter for best crumbly texture.
• Do not add flour if your dough is sticky, just use for dusting.
• You can remove the skin of pears if you don’t want.
• You can add other chopped fruits if you like it.
