[…] I don’t like eggy dough-related things very much. After more hunting, I found this recipe on Binjal’s Veg Kitchen which uses baking powder as a rising agent to make up for the fluffiness that eggs give. I also […]

Hi kindly advise on the texture of the dough for a donut machine please.
It should be like soft smooth roti dough! not sure about donut machine!
Can you tell me that can I skip yeast and butter please I want a quick reply.
sorry for late reply, but you can not skip yeast, but you can use oil or dairy free butter instead of butter. thank you 🙂
Hello Binjal,
Could you please tell me how much a cup of flour would be in grams or milk in ml as i have 2 sets of cups with different measurements.
Thank you.
Hi Loshanya! 125grm flour=1 cup flour and for milk 240ml=1cup!! thank you 🙂
Great recipe..better fried than baked
Thank you 🙂
When I moved them from the last rise to the hot oil, they deflated. What to do. No problem baking them on the parchment paper but can’t seem to move them successfully to oil.
i think your dough is more soft/loose use little bit less water next time!or before potting on parchment paper just sprinkle some dry flour so you can easily lift up them! 🙂
I saw on a cooking show where they cut the parchment paper to the size of the donut and move the donut to the oil on the parchment paper. Worked great and the parchment paper floats off and is easily removed from the oil.
that’s really great idea! thank you for the sharing with us! 🙂
thank you soo much for the recipe.love it!

hi Binjal, can i use cooking oil instead of melted butter and baking soda instead of baking powder or are they the same thing
Hi Harsimran Kaur, you can use oil instead of butter or use vegetable margarine (like Dalda). Baking soda and baking powder, both are different you can just skip it! it won’t effect that much on the recipe. thank you 🙂
Turned out delicious ? and easy to make – thank you
Thanks Vijya! glad you liked it! 🙂
Hello Binjal, I am making your recipe today and for some reason my dough is very firm/ stiff? I have been adding water and nothing has happened, I was wondering what i could do?
Hey Kristin! sorry for late reply, if dough become stiff, use little by little warm milk and knead it till become soft and sticky 🙂
Made twice and dough is not rising as noted in a previous comment (tried two different types of yeast and ensured milk was warm). The directions give a range of ingredients in many cases which for a novice baker is frustrating.
Hey I’m not sure what is wrong, I think you used very warm or very cold milk, whenever you use warm milk check with your finger you will feel, then use.
I made these tonight and they were perfect! Thanks for the recipe. ?
Thanks So much for your feedback! Glad you liked it! really appreciate 🙂
Hello, I was hoping you could help me. I’ve tried making this two times and the dough isn’t rising, it’s dry and stiff. What am I doing wrong?
I think you used less water! I already mentioned in recipe, dough should be sticky and use good quality of yeast, dissolve it in warm milk not hot or cold, otherwise it will kill yeast and will effect on rising the dough! please follow the tips and exact recipe hope this help 🙂
Hi binjal would be trying this recipe today.please let me know how many donuts can be made with this recipe.awaiting response. I need to make 3 dz .
Thanks Saloni for stopping here! Almost 15-18, but depends on size 🙂

Thanks So much Crystal Gregg for trying out this! glad you liked it! 🙂
Hello Binjal, I was wondering if this recipe would work if I used rice milk instead of milk and non-dairy butter? I’m very allergic to milk and eggs and I’d love to try your recipe. 🙂
You can use almond or soya milk instead of regular milk! yes non Dairy butter will work perfect 🙂
These were FRICKIN AMAZING!!! I’m obsessed. I added maybe a tablespoon coconut oil and a tablespoon water to the dough since it didn’t become sticky, and it made the trick. These donuts are fluffy and oh so good. And, they have such simple ingredients, a lot of vegan recipes are fussy with different kinds of egg replacers, but this was super simple. I coated mine with sugar and some with a maple glaze. SO GOOD.
Thanks a lot Alva Nystrom for trying out this recipe really appreciate!
How long will these last for??
1 week in fridge 🙂
Hi Binjal, I don’t eat eggs and so cannot eat most of the doughnuts, since they have eggs. So, would love to try these. Will let you know how they turn out. Thanks.
Thank you Kalindi Patel! i’m sure you will like it!
