Easy Strawberry Trifle made with gelatin-free strawberry jelly as a base and layered with vanilla pound cake, cream cheese frosting and fresh strawberries. This trifle is easy, surprisingly light, and stunningly beautiful. The sweet strawberries, luscious jelly, creamy layer of cream cheese and pound cake really come together and scream deliciousness. This strawberry dessert will be a complete hit with all your guests!
Making this Strawberry Trifle is quite easy, but it does require a little planning ahead. However, the result would be a showstopper. Today I am sharing one of our family favorite desserts… a Strawberry Trifle with fresh strawberries and vanilla pound cake. It is so simple to make and is a crowd favorite every time! You will be in trouble trying to keep anyone away from this delicious dessert 😉
Ingredients
For Jelly Base
• 1 Pack Gelatin Free Strawberry Jelly mix
• 1 cup Sliced Fresh Strawberries
For Vanilla Cake
• 1 ¼ cup All Purpose Flour
• 1 tsp Baking Powder
• ½ tsp Baking Soda
• ½ Can Condensed Milk
• 1 tbsp White Vinegar
• ½ cup Water
• ¼ cup Melted Butter
• 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
For Cream Cheese Frosting
• 2 Pack (16 oz) Cream Cheese
• 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
• ½ cup Powdered Sugar
• 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
Other Ingredients
• 3 cup sliced Strawberries
• ½ cup Strawberry Syrup
Method
For Jelly Base
1. Make a jelly mix according to the package instructions and pour into the trifle bowl.
2. Add sliced strawberries on the top and place it into the fridge for about 4-5hrs.
For Vanilla Cake
1. Meanwhile, the preheat the oven on 350F.
2. In a large bowl, shift the dry ingredients of cake and keep aside.
3. In another bowl, add all wet ingredients (condensed milk, vinegar, vanilla extract, melted butter, and water) and mix it well.
4. Pour gradually into the flour mixture and mix it with a spatula till combined well.
5. Grease the loaf tin with butter and dust with a little flour.
6. Pour the batter into the tin and bake it for about 30-35 mins. Check with a toothpick, insert in the center of the cake, if it comes out clean, that means done.
7. Remove the baked cake from the cooling rack and let it cool completely.
For Cream Cheese Layer
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cream, vanilla, and powdered sugar.
2. Mix until a spreadable, frosting like consistency is formed.
3. Add more cream if needed. Keep inside the fridge until needed.
Process
1. Take out the trifle bowl from the fridge once the jelly has set completely.
2. Cut the baked cake into cubes and keep aside.
3. Now spread ¼ of cream cheese mix on the top of the jelly base.
4. Layer with cake cubes and sliced strawberries and spread few spoons of syrup over it. Repeat again.
5. Use ½ of the mix of cake cubes, sliced strawberries, syrup, and cream cheese at a time. Use the remaining to make more layers.
6. Place it in the fridge until serving.
Tips
• You can use store-bought angel food cake and skip the cake making method.
• You can use vanilla pudding mix instead of cream cheese.
• Add blueberries, banana, pineapple, pomegranate to make a fruitier trifle if you like.
